Equine acupressure

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has been used for over 4000 years to create health, using various methods and techniques to promote health. The underpinning philosophy of Chienses medicine is to promote health and prevent ill health.

The TCM system is based upon the concept of rivers of energy called Qi (pronounced chee). TCM practitioners have mapped out specific pathways known as meridians or channels. Health is seen as the correct movement of qi in the body, and illness or pain is the incorrect movement of qi or blockage of qi.

Acupressure points are places where the qi energy concentrates on the surface of the body. By using specific techniques with fingers and palms it is possible to influence the movement of qi along the meridian, restoring balance.
