Emma Thomson BSc(Hons) RN EThPK

Emma is a qualified human nurse having gained a BSc(Hons) degree from Brighton University. After qualifying she worked at Southampton General Hospital in the Neuro Intensive Treatment Area and the Emergency Surgical Admissions ward. Emma then moved to Hertfordshire and began work at Addenbrookes Hospital. After a short time working on a medical ward Emma returned to a more intensive area of care, the Neuro Critical Care Unit. Whilst working on the Neuro Critical Care Unit Emma gained her Intensive Care certificate.
 
It was during her time in the Neuro Critical Care Unit that Emma gained insight into rehabilitation methods. From the Neuro Critical Care Unit Emma became a Specialist nurse in Stroke and Transient Ischemaic Attacks.
 
Emmas training with massage for horses began with the Pat Ki Shool of Massage which is based in Harogate North Yorkshire. Emma completed the Massage portion of the course in December 2003, and graduated the full course in Equine Therapies in April 2004. 
 
The Pat Ki Diploma qualified Emma in Equine massage and Equine Aromatherapy.
 
Emma has continued her education wirh Equinenergy Ltd who are based on the Writtle College campus. The courses Emma has successfully taken and passed are:
 

Equine Stretching and Rehabilitative Therapies - 2004

Equine Biomechanics and Gait Abnormalities - 2005

Equine Behaviour, Neuromuscular Re-education and Ground Handling Skills - 2005

Advanced Equine Sports Massage Techniques - 2006
 
Progressive Intensive Equine Anatomy - 2006
 
Foundation in Equine Acupressure - 2006
 
Emma continued to study privately in 2007, and attended a short course in December on sports physiology and lameness provided by the IEBWA.
 
Emma has completed the level 1 Equine Touch in January 2008, and is taking level 2 in April 2008.
 
Emma is also hoping to further study Acupressure in 2008 with Equinenergy and take a course with renowned veterinarian Dr Kerry Ridgeway on the principles of saddle fitting and farriery science.
 
Emmas experience with horses spans over twenty years, and all types of equines from the very greenest to school masters and mistresses of all disciplines.
 
Emma is excitedly awaiting the arrival of her own foal this May, keep watching this space!
