Neuro-muscular re-education
In the early part of her career Emma was a human nurse specialising in the care of patients with brain injury,
brain tumors and strokes. This work introduced Emma to the importance of neural pathways and how they can be lost and restored.
Horses who have sustained injury or have had an incorrect posture for a prolonged period of time can damage
their neural pathways. When this damage affects a limb it can reduce a horses trust in its own ability to bear weight through
the limb. If this is combined with the weight of the rider the horse may refuse to move, or try to unseat the rider as they
are concerned for their own safety.
By using gentle techniques to work the horse from the ground Emma can devise a programme to enable the horse
to rediscover its own body and trust it again.
The techniques Emma uses are drawn from many inspirational trainers, although Emma does not subscribe to any
set programme.
It does not matter whether you have olympic facitlities or a field, Emma can adapt a programme and facilities
to ensure the horses needs are met.
